2026 Theme: We're Here: Then, Now, Always.
March is Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Month. This year's theme is We’re Here: Then, Now, Always because people with developmental disabilities have always been part of our communities — and always will be.
People with developmental disabilities strengthen and enrichour communities in countless ways; as employees, students, advocates, neighbors, friends, leaders and entrepreneurs. When barriers are removed and opportunities are expanded, people like John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks and Collette Divitto, founder of Collettey’s Cookies, not only have the chance to succeed, but also create jobs for others with disabilities and giveback their time and earnings to support disability causes.
Their talents, creativity and determination not only break barriers but also change perspectives, challenges assumptions, redefines ABILITY and shows what true inclusion looks like in action.
And here’s the thing, not everyone will be famous or start a business, but everyone has something valuable to offer. When we focus on ABILITY, we create communities where everyone can contribute and make a difference.
March is a reminder that inclusion benefits everyone. Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month means recognizing ABILITY, supporting voices that may sound different than yours and creating space that encourages growth, connection, and community.
PCHC stands behind you all the way! Here’s the Governor’s proclamation recognizing Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and celebrating the contributions of every individual.
