Whether you are a dark-skinned diva, bronze-skinned beauty, or fair-skinned female, everyone is at risk of developing skin cancer. Studies show that melanin may provide some protection against sunburn, but exposure to UV rays causes skin cancer, and melanin does not prevent the skin from absorbing ultraviolet rays. Therefore everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, or gender, has to protect themselves against skin cancer.
