Autism Acceptance Month
Every April the world celebrates Autism Acceptance Month. This is a time to raise awareness about ASD, promote acceptance, and celebrate the unique abilities and contributions of individuals with ASD. Here are some of the things that can be accomplished by recognizing Autism Acceptance Month:
What can you do to recognize ASD Awareness Month?
- Increase understanding and acceptance of ASD
- Advocate for equal rights and opportunities for individuals with ASD
- Highlight the strengths and challenges faced by people with ASD
- Promote early diagnosis, intervention, and support services
- Educational events and workshops:
- Fundraisers and awareness walks
- Wearing blue, the color associated with autism awareness, particularly on April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day, we are encouraged to wear blue to show our support, acceptance and solidarity with the everyone who is a part of the autistic community.
- Supporting businesses and organizations that employ or advocate for individuals with ASD.
