Cervical Health Awareness Month highlights the importance of preventing cervical cancer through Pap tests, HPV testing, and HPV vaccination. Women with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) often face barriers that reduce access to screening, making awareness and support essential.

OB/GYN offices, community clinics, FQHCs, and disability-inclusive providers. Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover screenings. Take Action by encouraging screening, support HPV vaccination, and promote accessible, respectful cervical care for all women, including those with IDD.

• Anxiety or sensory sensitivities during exams

• Provide extra time, sensory-friendly spaces, and reassurance
