Autism Awareness Month

By Jarris Coles RN, BSN

Autism Awareness Month is observed every April to promote understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). During this month, organizations, schools, and communities worktogether to educate the public about autism, celebrate the unique strengths of autistic individuals, and advocate for inclusion and support. Many events and activities take place throughout April, including fundraisers, educational workshops, and opportunities for people to learn more about how they can support individuals with autism and their families.

This month PCHC wants to highlight the importance of early diagnosis, access to services, and creating environments where people with autism can thrive. Autism affects each person differently, so Autism Awareness Month emphasizes the need for personalized support and understanding. By increasing awareness and reducing stigma, communities can become more welcoming and inclusive spaces for individuals on the autism spectrum, helping them reach their full potential and participate fully in all aspects of life.
