Nurses Week 2021 from Thursday 5/6/21 until Wednesday 5/12/21

To celebrate Nurses Week 2021 PCHC would like to highlight Angela Babcock. Angela  is a registered nurse and is the Director of Nursing at Divine Providence Village. Angela was responsible for signing up and starting a vaccination clinic at Divine Providence. In the process of doing this Angela went “above and beyond” and put in a remarkable amount of work and effort into achieving this goal on behalf of the individuals she serves.

Angela started setting the clinic up in November 2020 and received the first batches of Moderna COVID19 vaccines at the beginning of January 2021. So far Angela and her team have been able to administer 15,000 Moderna shots! The recipients of the shots included individuals with ID served by Divine Providence and staff at Divine Providence. Angela then made the decision to open up the vaccination clinic’s facilities to other provider agencies and the individuals they serve.  Angela has also encouraged First Responders and other people in her community to come to the clinic for their vaccinations.

Angela and her team have been sufficiently flexible and caring that they have been willing to go to churches, and individuals’ home for those who had difficulty getting to the clinic. Currently the clinic is administering vaccinations on a scheduled basis.

When trying to overcome the problem of vaccine hesitancy Angela said that education sessions over Zoom were a good way to approach this.

PCHC would like to offer CONGRATULATIONS and recognize Angela and all the other nurses working in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) for her tireless work and the work of others during an extraordinary time!
