Influenza Vaccination Week 2021

National Influenza Vaccination week (NIVW) is December 5th-11th,2021. NIVW is a national awareness week that is focused on highlighting the importance of getting the flu vaccination for the holiday season and beyond. The best way to avoid contracting the seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year. 

For the2021-2022 season, the CDC recommends using any licensed, age-appropriate flu vaccine as an option for vaccination. You can do a type of injectable flu shot or a nasal spray that is a live attenuated vaccine. Everyone that is 6 months and older should get their annual flu shot. While vaccination is recommended before the end of October, it is not too late to receive a flu shot. It can still be beneficial during most seasons for anyone who did not get it initially. Even if you already got sick, you can also still benefit from the vaccine since there are various strains of the virus that spread during the season.
