National Depression Screening Day
October 11th, 2018

head on deskEvery year in October we like to take the time to raise awareness on the importance of screening for depression and other related mood and anxiety disorders. Depression is a mood disorder that affects the way you handle situations and how you feel. This year the theme is “Reach Out”, to stress the importance of connecting with a support system or finding one to help those affected by depression get through tough times and have someone to relate to.

Symptoms of Depression include:

  • Persistent sadness
  • Decreased energy
  • Irritability
  • Weight change
  • Thoughts of suicide

If you think you or someone you support has depression or another related mood and anxiety disorder, there are free screening tools and resources available to provide referrals for further evaluation and treatment. The screenings can be provided online or in person and can provide information as to one’s current status.
