International Women's Day
Sunday March 8th, 2020
International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th Sunday every March. This day is of recognizing the labor movements that created rights for women at the turn of the 20th century. This day is not country, group, or organization specific. International Women’s Day belongs to groups of women everywhere and brings light to all the achievements women have accomplished together. The theme for this 2020 campaign is #EachforEqual: “An equal world is an enabled world.”
What’s a gender equal world?
As individuals, we all have our own ideas, behaviors, and mindsets that when all put together create something impactful. When we come together, we can promote a greater need for change and a gender equal world. This day hopes to launch a variety of different missions: Raising awareness about different issues impacting women’s equality and taking an opportunity to call out the inequality going on, while acknowledging the important change being made in between. Equality is not a women’s issue, it is a business issue. If a community wants to thrive, equality is vital.
Can I get involved?
Everyone can partake in International Women’s Day. There are events worldwide that you can either attend or create one of your own. You can go onto the International Women’s Day website to find events or publish an event for your area. Additionally, you can order “IWD in a box” which would provide engaging material for your event.
