PCHC’s 4th Annual Stay Healthy Fair
“They made me come,” said Helen, “but I’m having a good time”. This seemed
to be the theme at the Philadelphia Coordinated Health Care (PCHC) 4th
Annual Stay Healthy Fair held Friday, April 16th in Plymouth Meeting,
Pennsylvania. Nearly 300 people participated in the event.
Each year, PCHC’s fair includes a wide range of health care topics.
Representatives from many organizations give updates on current health
practices and resources. This year was no exception with representatives
from dental, pharmacy, durable medical equipment organizations. The fair
also included exhibits by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and
Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, just to name a few.
Each county in the Southeastern Region, as well as the Southeastern Regional
Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), provided information on a selected
topic such as dysphagia, infection control, and humor for healing.
PCHC staff contributed information on women’s and men’s health, healthy
eating, and stress management, and took blood pressures of Health Fair
participants. Representatives from one of PCHC’s newest initiatives, The
Health Mentorship Program, shared information with recipients about this
valuable resource that is available to them free of charge.
At one point, all attendees quieted down and watched a performance by
Kind Slam.
This has become an annual event and their exciting routines and
enthusiasm seem to increase with each passing year.
It is hoped that participants of the 2010 Health Fair have new information
to stay healthy and have a great year!
